An education visa, also known as a Non-Immigrant ED visa, is a type of visa that allows foreign nationals to stay in Thailand for an extended period of time while studying at a registered educational institution in the country.
To obtain an education visa, the following requirements must be met:
- Enroll in a registered educational institution in Thailand, such as a language school, university, or vocational school.
- Provide proof of enrollment, such as a letter of acceptance or registration form.
- Have a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining validity.
- Meet the financial requirements set by the Thai government, which include having a minimum of 50,000 baht in a Thai bank account or a monthly income of at least 15,000 baht.
- Pass a medical examination to prove good health and freedom from infectious diseases.
Once the education visa is obtained, the holder can stay in Thailand for up to 90 days initially, after which they must apply for an extension of stay. To apply for an extension of stay, the holder must provide proof of continued enrollment in the educational institution and meet the financial requirements set by the Thai government.
